The Background

My name is Ryan Quigless. I am located on Maui, Hawaii, and I am the principle shaper for Arclight Woods.
Our Family here is fortunate to surf and shape in one of the most diverse, wave rich environments in the world. Originally from California, there is a strong connection and a deep respect for spots like San Onofre and the gathering spots along the Central Coast of California. Living and surfing in Bali, Indonesia, sailing and surfing in the Tahitian Islands, or being at home with friends and family- these places are sacred and hold a unique history and magic that few places compare to.
On the western rim of Pacific, Hawaii holds it’s share of spectacular waves; and on any given day Surfers and Paddlers of all skill levels can find a fun corner somewhere to Surf or Standup Paddle on. This wave diversity is a wonderful benefit for surfboard builders because we’re able to test each board extensively in a wide variety of conditions and wave types before being released as a trusted Arclight model. I have been shaping consistently for seven years and have had the profound pleasure to work with some of the best surfers, shapers, glassers, artists, wood workers and craftsmen in the world.  As we all know – Hawaii is a very special place that cultivates the human spirit. These human spirits are the lifeblood of what Arclight Woods is all about. People like you, Good Waves, Great Surfboards, Good Fun.
